I’ve been hyper-online since 2007.
Blogging and then email newsletters, the Gram, podcasts, and now as a ‘Stacker I’ve been out there pretty consistently for about 12 years?!
So I know these periods of flatness happen. And I’ve found the best thing for me to do is go with it, but not fall into it.
Here’s what I’m specifically doing (and not doing) right now:
Taking a clean break from the Gram. A week ago, I posted a short reel to say ‘Hey, I’m feeling a bit flat, I’m going bug out for a bit and see what happens’. Removed the app from all devices. Breathed out. Then deep cleaned the house.
Not piling on myself with a load of stories about what this means about my ability to create, to make money in my online business, or any notion that takes me close to the image of me living under a bridge, smelling of cat wee.
Being ‘constructively’ rested. I’m not big on lying about, soaking in my own erm… ennui. I’m better with low-key stimulus that doesn’t create Productivity Guilt. E.g., my wardrobe needed a bit of a clear out, I have a number of free workshops I’ve bought and not watched, the TBR pile - that sort of situation.
Redesigning my morning. Instead of dawn scrolling, I’ve been grabbing my journal and writing in that woozy place before I’m fully conscious. I ask my guides/angels/divine presence what they want me to know today and then write a couple of pages. It’s always weirdly revealing and compassionate and reassuring.
Getting a bit braver around the edges. I had some new website photos taken last week (I haven’t seen them yet!!). And because my body composition is currently in flux, I’m noticing my style is Evolving (in the last few weeks I’ve bought a suede jacket. Blue Chuck Taylors. A Stevie Nicks tee. WHO AM I?!). I’m embracing more than ‘autumnal-jewel tones’ that the John Lewis lady told me I MUST ALWAYS WEAR (stylists are so weird about redheads). And because my clothes (and my house!) are also reflections of my brand colours, I’m having a little digital shake-up too. We’re adding in a punchy orange, and a light green and (brace yourself) a new font!!! I feel unleashed! Who knows where this will end?
Reading, watching, listening, but tangentially. Years ago, I boxed up and donated all of my ‘coaching genre’ books and haven’t read anything self-helpy in years. I’ve always found my ‘muse’ shows up in tangential ways - so I’ve been listening to UFO podcasts, I’m excited about the new Adam Curtis doc on the BBC, also I’m nearly finished Barbara Hand Clow’s fiction trilogy about the Catholic church, the Age of Aquarius, and the Pleiadians. Yep.
ALSO: who is watching ‘Mormon Wives’ (come for the wild gender politics of being a breadwinning influencer in Utah, stay for the ketamine therapy!!). I need a support group to watch with.
Coaching my tits off. I have been coaching 1:1 in Velocity Sessions and loving the concentrated 90-minute sessions. These are super fun and I love how varied they are. This week, I worked with someone to design a whole new freebie that reflects her new coaching niche, and another woman who wants to start making healthier choices after a brutal menopause. Next week, there are questions about a long-term marriage, and a lawyer who is thinking about starting a yoga studio. I still have a couple of spots available over the UK Summer if this sounds like your idea of a good time (see below ↓ for how booking details).
Being in the world. Pooch walks around the neighbourhood, learning to run, strength training, yoga, breathwork are all vehicles to meet peeps and have real-life conversations (can’t recommend it enough). Plus, it’s Matariki this weekend (the Māori name for the (aforementioned) star cluster of the Pleiades that’s visible in the winter sky and signifies the start of the Māori New Year) so family, feasts, and all that good stuff are on the cards for the foreseeable.
Gathering ideas. I’m getting clearer on how I want to show up when I return to The Gram. One of those workshops (see 3.) was a great structure for social media that feels intuitively on point for me. And I’ve got ideas forming for reels, messages, and posts. I love the idea of getting a bit more intentional there and here.
In no rush to return to the Content Creation mines. It’s weird out there right now, yes? We’re clearly in a state of flux which is always a bit discombobulating - not in a ‘bin it all off’ way, more in a ‘poke it with a stick and see what it is’ type of thing… I found this article on the future of the internet and the ‘desire for smaller, more intimate communities’ super helpful (thanks Lianne). So yeah, I’m coming back to myself, finding my voice, seeing what wants to happen. No rush though, right?
🌀 If you've been circling the same decision for months...
👎🏼 avoiding the thing you know you care about...
🧶 second-guessing yourself into stillness...
⏳ waiting to feel “ready” (whatever that means)...
🙈 or feeling the quiet ache of where you hoped to be by now...
...a Velocity Session might be just the thing.
Because maybe you don’t need to pull one more tarot card to confirm what your heart already knows.
Because the overused cliche that 'nothing changes until you change' is annoyingly true (I'm so sorry).
And because sometimes, long-term coaching is a super-effective distraction from what we already suspect we want to do.
Maybe you just need the container of one honest, powerful session to allow the part of you that’s quietly ready to finally step forward?
Velocity Sessions are a powerful, soulful nudge - a space to move from imagining change, to actually living from it.
Here's how it works:
You take the bravest step and book your session below ↓
Before we meet, you'll answer a short questionnaire with ten questions.
We dive into a 90-minute 1:1 session together. Whatever you are bringing, I’ve got you.
Over the next four weeks, we go back and forth on Voxer as often as you need, while you do the brave work to integrate, experiment, hit setbacks (of course), and gather many tiny, brilliant triumphs.
We meet again for a check-in to celebrate your progress and anchor your momentum.
Both the Velocity and follow-up sessions plus six weeks of personal support: $US 497.00
Limited spots available and I’d bloody love to work with you ❤️
Loved this article about stepping back from what Sas calls 'Content Creation mines' - and fascinating to see the link through to research showing the tide is turning towards smaller, authentic communities with great content created by real human intelligence.
