Love love love this! Thank you Sas for always being there with this wisdom and inspiration! I’m wintering with a sprinkle of goal and intention setting right now and I’m loving the process! It feels like a fabulous act of rebellion against all that capitalist bullsh@t! Xx
Thank you Sas! I would seek out opportunities right where I am to learn to speak/practice speaking Spanish. It’s easier for me to say I’d go to a residential program to continue to learn to speak Spanish but by having that Big Goal it lets me off the hook from taking small actionable steps now. Do you ever see this pattern?
Yes, I see this all the time! Specific conditions for a goal are usually about self-protection - it's actually a pretty sophisticated aspect of self-doubt :) So, when we decide specific conditions are necessary for achieving the goal, the goal becomes about waiting for those conditions to be ideal (which probably won't happen). But this allows us the comfort of the goal's possibility without actually taking the small actionable steps to achieve it. So understandable! What happens if you remove the conditions and make your goal 'learn to speak Spanish?' I imagine you could start now (and you'll probably also understand more about why self-doubt wants to hold you back). Such a great Q!
You are amazing Sas- as always the succinct insight that unravels the knot and always with so much compassion and kindness and (sometimes even an invitation to laugh at my sweet self protection strategies) So grateful as always!!🙏🙏🙏
This post felt like a hug. Thanks for writing such an encouraging and light-hearted piece. Perfect antidote to all that go-go-go!!! energy that's everywhere at this time of year.
